Grant quantum leap for women in STEM

The Australian Government has announced $15.9 million in new grants for 17 successful projects that are supporting more women to study and build careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The University of Western Australia will help enhance female participation in modern quantum science through Quantum Girls, a Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship project.

National Launch

Teaching Einsteinian Physics at School & Quantum Girls Projects

The nationwide launch of the Einstein-First and Quantum Girls project was held at the Australian Academy of Science’s spectacular Shine Dome in Canberra in June. These ground-breaking initiatives are geared towards modernising primary and high school science education, with the primary objective of addressing Australia's pressing shortage of STEM skills.

The launch was led by two Prime Minister’s Science Prize winners, Distinguished Professor Susan Scott of ANU and Emeritus Professor David Blair of UWA.

The National Launch is an opportunity for educators, schools and education planners across Australia to learn about the goals and achievements of the programs.

National Science Week Anti-Conference

The National Science Week Anti-Conference was a collection of interactive workshops, quizzes and debates held at the heart of Perth. At the event, some members of Quantum Girls hosted a tournament which amassed around 20 participants who all played a quantum-inspired version of naughts and crosses. Everyone had a blast and learned something interesting! If you are interested in finding out more about our future events please check out the events page.
